Our History
Captain Joyce learned to scuba dive in 1987 at "Land O’ Lakes Scuba Center" in Land O Lakes, Florida. While there, she worked her way up to become a PADI MSDT Instructor. MSDT #37900
Along the way, the years of crewing gave her the incentive to get her Master 100 Ton Captain’s License. She left Land O'Lakes Scuba and bought her first boat. Shortly thereafter, she purchased Land O'Lakes Scuba.
She founded Narcosis Scuba Center on June 15th, 1996, and began her own Charter's. She researched for months to find the right boat and a store name that no one else had. (Remember this was before the internet.) :-)
Narcosis Scuba Center is also named after Capt Joyce’s first boat, The Narcosis.
About Our Location
Narcosis Scuba Center is located at 528 East Tarpon Avenue, Tarpon Springs, Florida. Our unique building is actually a historic building dating back to the early 1900's. Fully renovated when Narcosis moved from our old location.
Our location offers convenient access to the Sponge Docks, the Downtown Historic District of Tarpon Springs and US Highway 19, North.
Narcosis Scuba Center is a family owned, full service dive shop offering the very best customer service, classes, the latest gear and plenty of parking.
Our New Home
After 16 years at our old location on Alternate 19, we were given short notice (2 months) to vacate. It was a highly stressful time, and it was a deeply sad thing to learn that it was to help another shop get our location. However, after the shock wore off, we realized it actually benefited us. Capt. Joyce now owns our location. With More room for merchandise, a dedicated classroom, service department, and a drive-up fill station, we adjusted and soon began to thrive at our new location.
We are now on the main street leading into Tarpon Springs. Just a few blocks from the sponge docks and downtown Tarpon Springs.

Narcosis Scuba Ctr. is proud to be a 5 Star PADI #1322 teaching facility. All of our instructors love teaching divers the wonders of the underwater world, which is how Narcosis came to be. All of us enjoy helping people from entry-level courses, Discover Scuba, to Assistant Instructors. We love it all. With over 25 Specialties taught, you will find any course here.
Enjoy Scuba and Fishing Charters on our 32’ Custom-built Sport Craft conveniently located at the Tarpon Springs City Marina. Shallow trips 30ft to 60ft and Deep trips 60ft to 100ft. We also offer private fishing charters.
We offer a full line of diving and snorkeling equipment from leading manufacturers such as Sherwood, Shearwater, Aqua Lung, Houish, XS-Scuba, Marine Sports, and many more.
